Pramacare - One of the family

A new home for Pramacare

15/04/2008 - After 3 years in temporary accommodation, local domiciliary care charity Pramacare is celebrating the opening of new offices at Holes Bay Park , Poole . The Bishop of Salisbury, the Right Reverend Dr. David Stancliffe, one of the charity's patrons, officially opened and blessed the offices, named Moran House in memory of Pramacare's late founder, Dr. Chris Moran.

"What really matters is the touch of people as they care", said Bishop David in his address, in which he likened the organisation of Pramacare to a vine with many branches. He prayed for all those who work for and are cared for by Pramacare, and paid tribute to "how much people value the quality of the care the organisation brings."

Dr. Moran's widow Carolyn and family members joined the celebrations along with civic dignitaries, patrons, trustees, clients, staff and supporters. It was Dr. Moran's vision to provide help and care for people, enabling them to continue living independently in their own homes, which inspired the charity's foundation in 1982. It is this vision that sees the delivery of care support to around 700 local people each week and a toenail cutting service to over 1000 people.

One of the Pramacare clients visiting the building added "Pramacare is reliable, personal, understanding and loving care."

The new building also provides a much-needed permanent training room for Pramacare's in-house trainers and its team of 220 care attendants. Up until now the 3-day induction training of new care attendants and the regular ongoing training updates and NVQ schemes have been hosted in church halls.
