Celebrating 25 years of caring
30/04/2007 -
Local domiciliary care charity Pramacare celebrated 25 years as a care provider with a service of thanksgiving at Wimborne Minster, on Thursday April 26th. Over 200 guests attended including; Pramacare clients, care attendants, care coordinators, supporters and trustees, as well as local mayors and councilors.
“The need for help and care in the home is increasing, especially here in Dorset where there is a large retired population,” explains Care Coordinator Pauline Sharp. “Pramacare's ethos is to help people whatever their creed, culture, age or financial circumstances. Our care attendants help over 700 local people each week, 365 days of the year.”
“My hope for the future is to continue the excellent work and to expand into other areas of need.” Comments Pramacare Chairman Dr. Anne Gee. “One to One, another care agency, which Pramacare incorporated in 2004, has been a success. This encourages me to consider different or other extended care provision in the future.”

An anniversary cake was cut by Dr. Anne Gee and Caroline Moran, the widow of the late Dr. Chris Moran, whose vision for Pain Relief and Management, from where the PRAMA name originated, led to the founding of Pramacare in 1982. Sadly Chris, who lived in Wimborne and worked at Christchurch hospital, died in 2006.
