Recruitment drive in Blandford
04/09/2006 -
Pramacare, needs to recruit new care attendants in Blandford to cope with a growing demand for help in the home. For the past 12 years a Pramacare team of care attendants has been working in the Blandford area and today they look after around 65 people of all ages in and around the town.
On Thursday September 14th the charity will have a stall in the Corn Exchange at Blandford Market where interested parties can come along, have a chat and see a short DVD about the work of Pramacare. And for those who like a bargain Pramacare's charity shops and supporters have supplied assorted items for sale from delicious home-made jams to Christmas cards.
"The need for help in the home, be it housework, shopping or physical care, is huge." Explains Pramacare's Human Resources Manager Jane Taylor. "We'd love to help more people and to do that we need more care attendants."
Jane continues: "To be a Pramacare care attendant you'll need to be a real people-person, who is discreet and has bundles of common sense. Our care attendants come from a variety of backgrounds, from Mums with a few hours to spare to semi-retired people."
Pramacare provides all its care attendants with 3-day induction training before they start work and they are supported with ongoing monthly training meetings. Working hours are flexible hours and rates of pay are good, increasing with weekend and evening work.
