Pramacare - One of the family

From 0 to £260 in 6 weeks

22/08/2006 - Steve Matthews, a construction manager from Moordown, decided it was time to shed some pounds from his waist, while putting money pounds into local domiciliary care charity Pramacare's funds.

"I decided that it was time to ditch the sofa in
favour of sport," explains Steve. "A friend had been encouraging me to take some exercise, so as an added incentive I signed up for a triathlon which was just 6 weeks away!"

Steve's wife Sue works in Pramacare's Parkstone charity shop and Steve decided to set an added goal to his already brave feat, by getting friends and family to sponsor him in aid of Pramacare.

"There was no stopping him," says Sue. "Steve has dropped from a size 40 waist to a size 36. He was so determined and just went for it, we're all very proud of him."

Steve completed the triathlon, which included a 1/4 mile swim, a 20 mile cycle ride and a 5 mile run. He has so far raised £260 for Pramacare into the bargain. And he's definitely caught the fitness bug with more triathlons already booked into his diary.
